Rules & Regulations

1.The competition is open to contestants of all ages, nationalities and countries. All contestants will only be judged fairly, based entirely and solely on the submitted recordings regardless of the contestants’ backgrounds.

2. The competition is held in two rounds – preliminary and final rounds.

Preliminary round:

  • Video recording(s) uploaded on YouTube. Applicants are welcome to send multiple links or just one link of your entire performance, as long as the total duration is in line with the recording duration and restriction requirement according to the age of applicant. See ‘Category’ (link) for more information.
  • For foreign Chinese applicants in which case YouTube might not be accessible, please use upload your video on Baidu Wangpan (百度网盘) and make sure it’s visible to the jury or the public.
  • RepertoireFree choice with one or multiple pieces/ movements from baroque, classical, romantic or contemporary periods. Piano and orchestral accompaniment are both allowed where accompaniment is applicable in the selected piece(s).

Final round:

  • Video recording(s) uploaded on YouTube.
  • For foreign Chinese applicants in which case YouTube might not be accessible, please use upload your video on Baidu Wangpan (百度网盘) and make sure it’s visible to the jury or the public.
  • Repertoire: Free choice. Can be the same recording link or different link/ repertoire choice than the preliminary round.Video recordings are to be uploaded on YouTube (or Baidu Wangpan) and must not be edited. Effects adding is strictly prohibited. Please ensure that the whole body of the applicant is recorded and visible in the video. Submissions should be recorded no more than 24 months before the date of your application.
3. Please include information of the applicant’s name, name of the piece and composer’s name in the YouTube/ Baidu Wangpan link(s). Make sure the video is set to be viewed by ‘Public’ or ‘Unlisted’ and not ‘Private’.
 
4. All results and jury decisions are final and irrevocable. All finalists and winners will receive comments and a final point given by the jury.
 
5.  Repertoire: Free choice with one or multiple pieces/ movements from baroque, classical, romantic or contemporary periods. Piano and orchestral accompaniment are both allowed where accompaniment is applicable in the selected piece(s).
 
6. Categoris :
   * I category – Under 6 years old – 5 minutes maximum
   * II category – Under 8 years old – 5 minutes maximum
   * III category – Under 1o years old – 7 minutes maximum
   * IV category – Under 12 years old – 9 minutes maximum
   * V category – Under 14 years old – 12 minutes maximum
   * VI category – Under 16 years old – 15 minutes maximum
   * VII category – Under 18 years old – 15 minutes maximum
   * VIII category – Under 21 years old – 20 minutes maximum
   * IX category – Under 25 years old – 20 minutes maximum
   * X category – 25 years or above – 25 minutes maximum
   * XI category – 30 years or above – 25 minutes maximum
       (Age restriction is according to the application deadline)
       (For chamber group, please find a median of the age among all applicants and apply to the category accordingly)
 
7. All prize winners are invited to perform in the winners’ concert in the prestigious in London. If winners cannot take part in the live winners’ concert, their performance can be shared on Great Britain International Music Competition’s website withe winners’ approval.
 
8. By participating in the competition, competitors hereby irrevocably waive any and all rights to financial compensation for the publication and distribution of music video recordings.
