Rules & Regulations
- The competition is open to contestants of all ages, nationalities and countries. All contestants will only be judged fairly, based entirely and solely on the submitted recordings regardless of the contestants’ backgrounds.
- The competition is held in two rounds – preliminary and final rounds.
Preliminary round:
- Video recording(s) uploaded on YouTube. Applicants are welcome to send multiple links or just one link of your entire performance, as long as the total duration is in line with the recording duration and restriction requirement according to the age of applicant. See ‘Category’ (link) for more information.
- Repertoire: Free choice with one or multiple pieces/ movements from baroque, classical, romantic or contemporary periods. Piano and orchestral accompaniment are both allowed where accompaniment is applicable in the selected piece(s).
- For composers: please submit an audio/ video recording of your composition on YouTube. Recording can be played by midi instruments through composition software or played live by musicians. Please follow the same time restrictions in each category according to your age.
Final round:
- Video recording(s) uploaded on YouTube.
- Repertoire: Free choice. Can be the same recording link or different link/ repertoire choice than the preliminary round.
- For composers: please submit an audio/ video recording of your composition on YouTube. Recording can be played by midi instruments through composition software or played live by musicians. Please follow the same time restrictions in each category according to your age.
- Application Fee:
Application is free for the preliminary round and if the applicant is advanced to the final round, an application fee including administrative and service fee of £50 will be charged to applicants in the solo category and £75 for chamber category.

- Video recordings are to be uploaded on YouTube and must not be edited. Effects adding is strictly prohibited. Please ensure that the whole body of the applicant is recorded and visible in the video. Submissions should be recorded no more than 24 months before the date of your application.
- Please include information of the applicant’s name, name of the piece and composer’s name in the YouTube link(s). Make sure the video is set to be viewed by ‘Public’ or ‘Unlisted’ and not ‘Private’.
- All results and jury decisions are final and irrevocable. All finalists and winners will receive comments and a final point given by the jury. If none of the competitors are deemed suitable for a specific prize, no winner will be awarded.
- Prize system:
- FIRST PRIZE– is to be awarded to the competitor who achieves at least 90/100 points
- SECOND PRIZE– is to be awarded to the competitor who achieves at least 85/100 points
- THIRD PRIZE – is to be awarded to the competitor who achieves at least 80/100 points
- FOURTH PRIZE – is to be awarded to the competitor who achieves at least 75 points
- FIFTH PRIZE – is to be awarded to the competitor who achieves at least 70 points
- HONOURABLE MENTION PRIZE – is to be awarded to the competitor who achieves at least 60/100 points
Special Prizes:
Winners of all special prizes will receive an opportunity in 2026 to perform as a soloist with an orchestra in London.
- MOZART PRIZE is to be awarded to the competitor with the best interpretation of a piece by Mozart across all categories.
- BEETHOVEN PRIZE is to be awarded to the competitor with the best interpretation of a piece by Beethoven across all categories.
- CHOPIN PRIZE is to be awarded to the competitor with the best interpretation of a piece by Chopin across all categories.
- FRANZ LISZT PRIZE – is to be awarded to the competitor with the best interpretation of a piece by Liszt across all categories.
- BÉLA BARTÓK PRIZE – is to be awarded to the competitor with the best interpretation of a piece by Bartók across all categories.
- FRANZ LEHÁR PRIZE – is to be awarded to the competitor with the best interpretation of a piece by Lehár across all categories.
- BAROQUE MUSIC PRIZE – is to be awarded to the competitor with the best interpretation of a piece from the Baroque period across all categories.
- CLASSICAL MUSIC PRIZE – is to be awarded to the competitor with the best interpretation of a piece from the Classical period across all categories.
- ROMANTIC MUSIC PRIZE – is to be awarded to the competitor with the best interpretation of a piece from the Romantic period across all categories.
- CONTEMPORARY MUSIC PRIZE – is to be awarded to the competitor with the best interpretation of a piece from the Contemporary period across all categories.
- CONCERTO PRIZE – is to be awarded to the competitor with the best interpretation of a movement(s) of a concerto or an entire concerto across all categories.
- SONATA PRIZE – is to be awarded to the competitor with the best interpretation of a movement(s) of a sonata or entire sonata across all categories.
- ARIA PRIZE – is to be awarded to the singer with the best interpretation of an operatic aria across all categories.
- ORATORIO PRIZE – is to be awarded to the singer with the best interpretation of an oratorio aria across all categories.
- ART SONG PRIZE – is to be awarded to the singer with the best interpretation of an art song across all categories.
- COMPOSER PRIZE – is to be awarded to the composer achieving the highest score of his/her new composition across all categories.
- CONDUCTOR PRIZE – is to be awarded to the composer achieving the highest score of his/her new composition across all categories.
- OVERALL WINNER – is to be awarded to the competitor with the highest mark with the best overall performance across all categories.
Awards:
- All competitors will receive an e-certificate diploma.
- Winners of all the special prize will receive an opportunity in 2026 to perform with an orchestra in London.
- All special prize winners including winners of MOZART PRIZE, BEETHOVEN PRIZE, CHOPIN PRIZE, FRANZ LISZT PRIZE, BÉLA BARTÓK PRIZE, FRANZ LEHÁR PRIZE, BAROQUE MUSIC PRIZE, CLASSICAL MUSIC PRIZE, ROMANTIC MUSIC PRIZE, CONTEMPORARY MUSIC PRIZE, CONCERTO PRIZE, SONATA PRIZE, ARIA PRIZE, ORATORIO PRIZE, ART SONG PRIZE, COMPOSER PRIZE and CONDUCTOR PRIZE will receive an award of 30 minutes of private music coaching (online or in-person in London) with the international award-winning adjudicator panel worth more than £100. All special prize winners will have his/ her picture and biography published on the website for promotion of young talent.
- Winners of COMPOSER PRIZE and CONDUCTOR PRIZE might be offered for further performance opportunities, in which the composition of the COMPOSER PRIZE winner will be performed abroad for publicity and the winner of CONDUCOTR PRIZE will be invited for performances in the future partnering with Great Britain International Music Competition.
- OVERALL WINNER will receive an cash award of £100 in addition to an award of 3 hours of private music coaching (online or in-person in London) with the international award-winning jury panel worth more than £500. The OVERALL WINNER will have his/ her picture and biography published on the website for promotion of young talent.
- Winners of all special prizes will receive an opportunity in 2026 to perform as a soloist with an orchestra in London.
- Teachers and accompanists of all prize winners can receive an e-certificate on request.
- Repertoire: Free choice with one or multiple pieces/ movements from baroque, classical, romantic or contemporary periods. Piano and orchestral accompaniment are both allowed where accompaniment is applicable in the selected piece(s).
- Categories:
- I category – Under 6 years old – 5 minutes maximum
- II category – Under 8 years old – 5 minutes maximum
- III category – Under 10 years old – 7 minutes maximum
- IV category – Under 12 years old – 9 minutes maximum
- V category – Under 14 years old – 12 minutes maximum
- VI category – Under 16 years old – 15 minutes maximum
- VII category – Under 18 years old – 15 minutes maximum
- VIII category – Under 21 years old – 20 minutes maximum
- IX category – Under 25 years old – 20 minutes maximum
- X category – 25 years or above – 25 minutes maximum
- XI category – 30 years or above – 25 minutes maximum

*For chamber group, please find a median of the age among all applicants and apply to the category accordingly
- All prize winners are invited to perform in the winners’ concert in the prestigious Liszt Institute – Hungarian Culture Centre in London. If winners cannot take part in the live winners’ concert, their performance can be shared on Great Britain International Music Competition ‘s website with the winners’ approval.
- By participating in the competition, competitors hereby irrevocably waive any and all rights to financial compensation for the publication and distribution of music video recordings.
